Week 4 Bible Reading

Mon. Daniel 5:1-30 The Writing on the Wall
What reasons would God have for passing judgment on the society in which you live?

  1. Monday: I think God wouldn't need a reason to pass judgement on where I live because He is God. God is going to put every person on the earth into judgement so he could put me into judgement any time.In this passage Daniel is called to read writing on a wall. King Belshazzar threw a party and suddenly a hand appeared writing words on the wall. No one at the party or any of his wise men could read the writings so they called Daniel. Daniel of course could read it and once the king heard Daniel say what the writing meant he made him the third highest in the kingdom.

  2. Tues. Daniel 6:1-28 Daniel and the Lions
    When do you pray regularly?

I usually pray every morning, night, and many times, if I know I need God, during the day. Praying always can solve my problems so I will definitely continue to pray for the rest of my life. In this story Daniel is thrown into a lion's den. He is thrown into a lion's den because the king that ordered the decree said that you could not pray to anyone but him and when he found out Daniel had still prayed to God he tried to change the law. The law couldn't be changed so he was thrown into the den but he prayed to God and God closed the lion's mouths so they could not hurt Daniel at all.

  3. Wed. Jonah 1:1-2:10 Bending God’s Directions
When did you last try to avoid doing what you knew God wanted you to do?
The last time I tried to avoid something I knew God wanted me to do is when I got in a fight with my friend. I knew I should have been the mature one and apologized first but I was too stubborn. In this story Jonah ran from God because God told him to do something he was scared to do. He was told to go to Ninevah, preach to the people there, and get them saved. Jonah disobeyed God and tried to hide from him by going on the wrong ship. Of course God knew he was trying to hide from Him so he sent a storm where the ship was and they were told to throw Jonah overboard to stop the storm. They threw him overboard and Jonah was swallowed into a whale's belly where he was vomited out in Ninevah.

  4. Thursday: I complain to God about too many things. I complain sometimes about my family memebers, my friends, and my life. The only reason I complain is because I am having a bad day but I really need to change that. In this passage Jonah obeys and preaches to the Ninevites. He tells them that in a certain amount of days Ninevah will be overthrown so they start to fast. A decree was then written by the King of Ninevah that everyone in the city had to fast. The Lord saw how they changed from their evil ways and decided to have grace on Ninevah.
