Week 4 Bible reading

Mon. 1 Kings 10: 1-13 Solomon and the Queen of Sheba
When are you tempted to try to impress people?
I am tempted to try and impress people when I am playing a sport or trying to act as mature as I can at a grown up party.I always want to be seen as the girl who is great at volleyball,very mature for her age,and a great Christian.In this passage the Queen of Sheba visits Solomon.The Queen of Sheba was overwhelmed with Solomon and all of his achievements.She was so overwhelmed that she gave King Solomon120 talents of gold,large quantities of spices,and precious stones! All this happened to Solomon because the Lord God covered His grace over him.The Lord surely deserves to be praised and most definitely honor.

Week 3 Bible Reading

Fri. 1 Kings 6: 1-38 Solomon Builds the Temple
What can you learn from Solomon abut making and carrying out plans?

In this passage Solomon builds the temple of the Lord.The Lord said He would not abandon His people if Solomon built the temple the way God wanted it to be.Solomon did exactly what the Lord told him to do and he was rewarded.I  can learn from Solomon that if I do anything I know the Lord wants me to do,I will get rewarded and I will be happy I walked in His path.Solomon teaches Christians and Non-Christians a lesson about serving the Lord in this story.

Thurs. 1 Kings 3: 16-28 Solomon Solves a Problem
In what current situation in your life do you need God’s wisdom?
I always need God's wisdom when it comes to girl drama. He is the only person who can tell me exactly what the right thing is to do in that sort of situation.In this story two prostitutes came to Solomon and he had great wisdom. Both of the prostitus had just given birth to a baby but woman#2 lied about having an alive son when it was really dead so she took woman#1's baby for herself. While they were fighting Solomon told his servants to take a sword and cut the baby in half but woman#1 said no please give it to the other woman instead of harming that child. Solomon then knew the baby belong to woman#1 and she got her child back. All this happened because God gave Solomon wisdom.

If you could ask for anything, what would you ask for?
If I could I ask for anything I would wish to be 99% perfect.I have always wanted to be able to do the right but sometimes I do not handle things correctly.In this passage Solomon asks for wisdom.The Lord appeared to him in a dream and asked him if there was anything he wanted.He chose wisdom and the Lord was so pleased with him that He gave him wisdom,wealth,and a long life.

Week 3 Bible Reading

Tues. 1 Kings 1: 28-53 David Gives Solomon the Crown
When things in your world get confusing, how do you know God is still in control?
I know God is still in control because I know He has a plan for me and everyone on this earth.No matter what has happened or will happened in your lifetime you need to know that God  is in control and has a plan just for you.In this story David makes Solomon king.He calls in Bathsheba  and told her Solomon was going to become king and she was very excited.Then Zadok the priest took the horn of oil  and anointed Solomon.At the end of the day Adonijah was going to be killed if he ever does anything evil.

Mon. 1 Kings 1: 5-27 Conflict Over the Throne
What happens when you don’t make good decisions?
When I do not make good decisions I try to fix them.Most of the time I will notice them so i try to fix them after I realized I made a mistake.In this passage Adonijah becomes king without telling King David.He made big mistakes by sacrificing great numbers of cattle,and fattening calves.He also invited all the king's sons,the commanders of the army,and Abiathar the priest.

Week 2 Bible Reading

Fri. 2 Samuel 18: 1-18 The Death of Absalom
In what situations are you most likely to lose control?
In most situations I do not lose ALL of my self-control.Although when I am really angry at someone I will just completely act the opposite the way I was raised.In this passage Absalom dies. Joab killed him with three javelins that he plunged into absalome's heart.Joab lost control and did something he should not have done.

Week 2 Bible Reading

Thurs. 2 Samuel 15: 1-37 Family Betrayal
Who helps you keep your motives clear?
My family helps me keep my motives clear.They are my closest friends and they help me with everything in life that will make me have a better future.In this story Absalom takes over Jerusalem.A messenger came and told David the hearts of the people of Israel are with Absalom.Then David had to flee Jerusalem with all his officials.

How do you deal with family conflict?

I do not usually handle family conflict well.I whine and cry when people hurt my feelings.I usually am mean back to them which is not good.In this spassage Absolom returns to Jerusalem.The king is kind enough to let him enter Jerusalem.In Jerusalem Absalom had three children.

Tues. 2 Sam. 12: 13-25 David Confesses
How do you feel when you ask God’s forgiveness?
When I ask for God's forgiveness I feel like nothing can hurt me.I feel like I am always protected by God's love and nothing can come against me especially the devil.In this passage David realizes that he has done wrong.The Lord forgave him and did not kill him  but he had to be punished.His punishment was that the baby he had was to be killed.So it happened and David was sad but also knew the Lord was going to be obeyed.David's wife was very sad so he made love to her.She gave birth to a son and they named him Solomon.The Lord loved this baby very much.

Which of your friends love you enough to correct you?
The friends that love me enough to correct me are mostly my church friends.They only correct me because they want to see me go further in life and that is why I correct them as well.In this story Nathan rebukes David.God sent Nathan to tell David a story about a poor and rich man.David burned with anger at what the rich man did to the poor man and wanted who ever this rich man was to be killed.Then Nathan told David the rich man actually was David.

Fri. 2 Samuel 11: 1-27 David and BathshebaWhen is it hard for you to admit fault?
It is hard to admit something when its my fault all the time.No matter when or where it is I hate admitting something was my fault.In this passage David saw Bathsheba bathing so he sent messengers to get her.Then he slept with her.She went back home and sent word to David saying she was pregnant.Then Uriah did not do anything David told him to do.Uriah was then put to death.

The main promise that I need to keep is the promise I made to God.I promised Him I would never leave Him and I would try to be the best Christian I could be.In this story King David was very kind to Saul's son,Mephibosheth.He was lame in both feet.King David showed him kindness by giving him permission to eat at the king's table.David also gave him servants.King David was very kind and godly to this man and I hope to be as godly as he was.

Wed. 2 Samuel 5: 1-12 David Is King Over IsraelHow could you become a person who is more pleasing to God, as David was?
I could become a person who is more pleasing to God by becoming a better Christian.The more I read God's word the closer I get to Him.In this passage David becomes king over Israel and conquers Jerusalem. David became king when he was only thirty years old and he reigned for forty years.When he conquered Jerusalem ,the Jebusites said he could not do it.Of course he knew he could do it though because he had God on his side.David was a very strong Christian and I hope to be a strong Christian also.

How would God feel about your involvement in such things?
In this story Saul disguised himself.Samuel's ghost appeared to him and gave him the news that he would be where he was the next day.This frightened Saul.A ghost like Samuel's could be considered ''occult practices.''God does not like magic and things of that sort so He wants us to stay away from it.

Mon. 1 Samuel 25: 1-42 David and AbigailHow does God keep you from making big mistakes?
God keeps me from making big mistakes by my family.They always set examples for me and keep me from making big mistakes.In this story David sends his men to help Nabal with his sheep.He is not thankfull and made a big mistake just like we do sometimes.It ends up that he dies from his big mistake.I am thankfull that I have a family who will help me not make as many big mistakes.
